This camera came free with this magazine! I know right, so awesome!!!! and so generous of the magazine! I'm sold on it for life haha!!

These are the pictures I took in Kyoto today.

The camera may be small, but it sure packs a punch with its picture quality. Please don't expect to blow up the pictures to like the normal size. I think the photos work very well if kept as vignettes or as part of a collage.

My next move? To find a small pouch/bag for this keeper of a camera!

A Garden on the Roof

is my latest addition to my perfume collection!! Its actually Un Jardin Sur Le Toit by Hermes!!

I got it from Bestbuy, an online shop that sells beauty products and cosmetics cheaper (been doing lots of online clicking and shopping because of a sprained ankle) and its a dear! The perfume (7.5ml EDT) comes with a lotion which I can use to layer the scent! So excited right now!

True to its name, the scent actually is rather similar to freshly cut grass, albeit a bit sweeter and floral.

I think I shall use this on days when I need a pick me up! The smell of freshly cut grass always makes my day feel better :D

Hanna

A must watch, only because 2 of my favourite actresses are in it - Saoirse Ronan and Cate Blanchett. Second reason? The awesome soundtrack by The Chemical Brothers. Third? Gorgeous cinematography.

Abduction

Starring Taylor Lautner as a normal American teenager who finds out that his parents are not really his parents. I like the script, I like Taylor Lautner's face even better!

Johnny English Reborn

The genius Rowan Atkinson reprises the role of Johnny English, bumbling secret agent who will inevitably save the day. I will watch this simply because the movie will make me laugh. :D

Dolphin Tale

Animal lover or no, this true story will move you to perhaps do something bigger in your life. I am feeling that way just by watching the trailer, but that's just probably me being impressionable me.

Rise of the Planet Apes

Awesome CGI. James Franco. Andy Serkis. John Lithgow. Yes!

One Day

Featuring another favourite actress of mine, Anne Hathaway, One Day is not the usual run-of-the-mill romance. I kinda like that they meet every year on the anniversary of the day they first met - July 15th. Tear fest alert. Not sure if the bf will wanna go with me.

The Help

This movie is based on a novel of the same name by author Kathryn Stockett, about African American maids working in white households in the South during the early 1960s.

Jumping the Broom

I like this other take on African American lives in today's modern times. Jumping the broom refers to the African American tradition of jumping over a ceremonial broom when one gets married. Get ready to be tickled tickled tickled! Its already out, so I'll have to find the DVD...somewhere...

Attack the Block

I like English accents, the real thing mind you, by real English actors - which might explain why I am liking Ms Huntington in the recent Transformers movie, even though Megan Fox fits the bill better. But I digress. This movie picked up the midnight feature award at 2011 SXSW and is produced by the same people who brought us Shaun of the Dead (hilarious movie, go watch if you haven't). Aliens, English people, and the irritating but lovable Nick Frost.

Overheard 2

Back in 2009, Overheard was the best Chinese film I had watched in ages. Helmed by three of the best actors in HongKong - Lau Ching Wan, Louis Koo and Daniel Wu, this movie overshot all my expectations of a Chinese film. I hope the sequel will be as good, if not better. Am I hoping too much? Sequels are seldom as good.

I'm hooked on Korean drama "I am Legend" about ahjumas (Korean for aunties) finding their way through life and their personal problems, and finding happiness and fulfillment through music. Kim Jung Eun plays the lead and I'm taken with her beauty and gawkiness here. An adorable combination no?

I am also making my way through season one of Medium. Awesome stuff. Incidentally season one came out in 2005 and recently ended its run (season seven!!!) in January this year. haha! i'm a slow starter!

This week I finally finished season one of The Good Wife. Getting a little irritated at the hesitant heroine who is right now (at episode 23) caught between two guys - her husband and her boss/schoolfriend. Like make your decision already!!!

I went to watch Gotan Project at the Esplanade Theatre last night. Awesome dance tunes filled the theatre together with the light melodies of the violin and jaunty accordion. The highlight of the evening were the electronics used - the tenorion as well as this wii-like thingy. I also loved the staging and lighting design. So inspired right now! And and and!!! The performance culminated in a 30-min (!!!) encore!!! Good, no? My only peeve? A dance outfit in the theatre?? Try a venue with no seats?

I went out to the outdoor theatre to catch the Batucada Sound Machine's 10pm set. Awesome awesome awesome!!!!!!!!! Everyone was dancing to their infectious repertoire of catchy rhythms, cute horn section and adorable rapper!!!

Rewind years back to when Cat Empire came to our sunny shores and performed at the same place. Total deja-vu there.

Movie Review: Hello Stranger

This Thai rom-com is filmed and set largely in Korea and one sees the most amazing touristy spots (as well as those locations made famous by the drama serials, like the Coffee Prince, and Winter Sonata) in the course of the movie.

Two heart-broken people meet in the city of Seoul and they travel together, forging a close bond after just a few days. They realise that they have fallen in love with each other and start dating, only for the plot to take a twist....watch to find out more. I'm not going to spoil the movie for you!!

I laughed till my belly hurt. So if you like to laugh, or if you like the feeling of your belly hurting, hurry to the cinemas now. The movie is only shown at Golden Village cinemas!

Who Is Willow Smith?

She's only 10 (born in 2000) and is one of the youngest solo recording artistes around.

As I was watching her music video, I couldn't help but think, she's so un-child-like. Her level of confidence in front of the camera is amazing. And also, that tiny tinge of doubt, as to whether this would be good for her, to be in the limelight so early on. But, one has to give the Smiths (Willow is the daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith) the benefit of the doubt, as they seem to be rather good parents, not like say, the father of Lindsay Lohan.

Anywho, just watch and enjoy the hair-raising antics of Little Miss Willow.

The pair in question? The 1960 tribal earrings I saw in the stand-alone shop outside Mandarin Gallery.

They are absolutely gorgeous with a very unique stud-cum-clip-on backing which I LOVE!!!!

The boyfriend forbade me to buy it. But how to resist the call of this charmingly be-yoo-ti-full pair!! :(

Its kind of like an induction cooker, only bigger, more intelligent and cool-er. Heh, kinda like its big brother?

It doesn't tell you where you should place your pot or pan to be heated and you can cook/heat more than 4 pots/pans at once, due to the fact that one can use any part of this stove's surface.

I met Hai at KFC in Parkway yesterday before my accompaniment class with his students. As we sat down at our table, we became aware of this middle-aged lady scolding a person with short bowl-cut hair. At first I thought that person was the lady's eldest son but after a while I was wondering why the 'eldest son' was feeding his 'brother' when the boy, who looked like he was 8 or 9 years old, seemed competent enough to feed himself.

The scolding went on and on for about 5 minutes, the lady saying stuff like

"Cannot move ah? Must push a button then you'll move? So stupid" or "So now you think you very clever lah..."

The 'son' kept quiet and just continued feeding the boy. And at this point, I felt something was wrong here. Then they stood up to leave and I discovered, the 'son' was actually the lady's maid.

The woman then asked the maid to clean her daughter's mouth (who again, at the age of maybe 7 or 8, was old enough to do something as simple as clean her own mouth), but the daughter ran away from the maid and hid behind her mom.

By then, both me and Hai were openly staring at the lady, which probably saved the maid from more scolding (because the daughter ran away from the maid, resulting in the maid not being able to wipe her mouth? Madness!!!). The lady just took the piece of tissue from the maid and cleaned her daughter's mouth. WHICH SHE SHOULD HAVE DONE IN THE FIRST PLACE! I mean, who's the mother here? And surely, this should be a simple enough task?!

Following that, mother, son and daughter left the fast food restaurant, leaving the poor maid to get the bags. I say bags in plural, because there sure were lots of bags for ONE person to carry. Oh but of course! For she had to carry three people's bags!

Lets count the bags shall we?

1 huge canvas bag filled with groceries (probably the lady's)

2 small bags - the kind that kids bring for music/tuition classes and definitely not the heavy school bags and DEFINITELY not very heavy and so the kids should have carried their bags themselves!

2 big red plastic bags

1 white grocery bag

So that was about 6 bags the maid had to carry, whilst the lady carried her handbag, and the kids carried nothing, and jauntily walked away, leaving the maid to struggle to pick up everything on her own and try to follow.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh i forgot, the lady DID come back, but not to help. Rather she demanded that the maid check to see if she dropped anything. And then she walked off again.

I can't stand this type of people. People who think that since they've already paid for their maid, she has to be at their beck and call and do EVERYTHING for them.

A maid only does everything for you when you are:

a) disabled/bed-ridden
b) too fricking lazy
c) think that you are her queen/ruler

And you, lily-assed lady, are lazier than a sloth, with an attitude worse than even the worst divas I've met on stage.

You, who look healthy and strong enough and yet, you have never spared a thought for your maid and her situation. I don't think you even view her as a human being. Paying your maid does not mean you OWN her. Nobody OWNS anybody. Get that straight!

There should be a law for such people to disallow them from hiring a maid.

And you so do not deserve her.

Review: Smooth Away

I just bought this off Bestbuy. I read alot of reviews on the web saying that this product isn't really good as its like using sandpaper on your skin, takes a longer time, yadda yadda...

After using it however, I beg to differ.

The first time I used the mitt, I wet my skin first with warm water. Reason why I used it on wet skin is because hair follicles are enlarged when its wet and it makes for easier hair removal.

The process was easy, quick and no-fuss.

The second time I used the mitt, I used it straight on dry skin. Again, the process was easy, quick and no-fuss.

All it takes is a gentle circular motion on the skin. The mitt doubles as an exfoliator too and the skin is smooth after usage.

Apply some moisturizer as you would normally do and you're good to go!

Another disclaimer, the mitt seems to work better on finer hairs, so I wouldn't recommend this for men!

The package includes a large mitt for areas like your legs and underarms and a small mitt for your upper lips. It comes with a pouch as well to store both the mitts and the extra pads they have provided, which I think is quite cute! ♪

At SGD26, its quite a reasonable price for something that makes hair removal fun and easy!

Review: RMK Gel Emulsion Compact

I decided to get this after reading about it in a magazine. Was actually contemplating getting it in Bangkok but decided not to as I wasn't sure about prices in Singapore and was afraid I'd get it cheaper here.

This compact is definitely one of the priciest around and at SGD89 (!!!) it'd better be damn good. (FYI, You can get it at about SGD83 in Bangkok!)

The counter girl at RMK Isetan Scotts wasn't the most approachable, but she was able to tell just by looking at me what shade I would suit.

I still didn't trust her and (purposely) wondered aloud what if I'd bought it home and it didn't suit. Finally she took out a sample and passed it to me to try it on and amazingly, she was correct!!

So anyways on to the review:

The foundation is rather light and glides on easily. I like that I can use it for my undereyes and it is not cakey! It blends well into my skin and looks natural!

When it dries to a powder finish, you feel like you have nothing on your face which I give two thumbs up for. Another bonus: its SPF27 factor.

Review: No Falsies Mascara

I bought this mascara by Maybelline and decided to try it out.

Didn't like it for 3 reasons:

A) The texture of the mascara was very runny.

B) Hard to remove, even with my go-to makeup remover!

C) No results! My lashes weren't longer and clumps abounded.

My verdict:

No falsies is really aptly termed. You really don't get any falsies with this mascara!
Your money is better spent elsewhere.

Soap is back!!!

And to celebrate his coming back to (me)Singapore, we went out for high tea or rather, lunch at The Shangri-La! It was a very relaxing two hours at the Rose Veranda. We each had a pot of fragrant tea and dined on salmon sashimi, smoked duck and kueh pie tee, just to name a few.

Our favourite Kueh Pie Tee. Crispy shell and very tasty fillings. The crispy shell is a winner! psst! Isn't my phone's camera fantastic!!! ♪♪

The first and last time I'll ever eat a macaroon. Just too sweet for even MY sweet tooth. But the presentation is gorgeous!

A favourite of mine: Mango and Mint. Tastes somewhat like a mojito ♥

The scone was a little too buttery for my liking (I prefer the one at L'espresso)

And of course our obligatory individual and couple shot! LOL!

Yesterday was Sunday the 14th of August, the day when the ex-vballers of SRJC (and their spouses) met again and reconnected after such a long looongg while!

This day will remain imprinted on my mind for years and years to come. Hopefully we don't have too long to wait for yet another outing!

High Tea at L'espresso

Today was a very special family outing (minus my Mummy coz she's working) as we seldom eat at buffets! We got our Dad to come along with us as L'espresso was having a promotion with UOB cards where one adult dines free with every three adults!

Service was good - our dirty plates were collected very promptly, water was served when asked for without much waiting time!

And now for the food! L'espresso serves an English afternoon high tea, so the spread was mostly sandwiches, scones and desserts like cakes, creme brulee and tarts. There were also some asian fare like fried prawn fritters, yam and chicken rolls and also my favourite mango and pomelo!!

We were there for about an hour and a half, the longest my family has ever sat down for a meal! So happy that my dad was there with us today! ♪♪

Losing Weight with Indomie!

As you all know, I've been on a mission to lose weight for the past like six years or so, successful in losing weight about 3-4 years ago, and then, as is inevitable, like what comes up must go down, the needle on the weighing machine has steadily been going up.

So, I've started going to the gym regularly, but its just not helping me lose weight fast enough.

Enter the Indomie diet! Hurrah!

The INDOMIE diet. This diet is a good weight loss program diet, not too healthy, but works.

The INDOMIE diet involves eating one pack of INDOMIE, the small pack, three times daily. A pack of INDOMIE contains approximately 321 calories. So if you eat three packs per day, you are eating less than a thousand calories per day, and your body would be forced to use its stored fat for energy. It is however a dangerous diet, as your body would be starved of nutrients, and diets of less than 100calories per day are extremely dangerous.

When you are on the INDOMIE diet, you take one INDOMIE three times daily, with no additions, except what came with. No salt, maggi, sardines and all the other stuff you would normally add.

You would do this on alternate days, so if you eat just INDOMIE today, then tomorrow, you eat your normal balanced diet, in small amounts too, to ensure you don't get malnutrition.

The INDOMIE DIET if done for two months, will help you lose a considerable amount of weight.

on having gone to the gym regularly for 5 consecutive weeks. And i'm not even growing tired of it yet!

I recently signed up at Amore and gave up my membership at Fitness First. I gave myself quite a hard time over that decision. I guess the real reason why I held on to the FF membership all this time was because I thought it was cool and a "status symbol". I'm not kidding! People do actually view gym memberships as status symbols too - not everyone can afford spending $150 on gym memberships monthly (and not go to the gym, like me).

Anyways, so I signed up at Amore as I wanted to a)lose weight and b)start going to the gym regularly. Figured that as the gym was at Tampines One, and so accessible from my house, I'd go regularly. Turns out that the classes at Amore and thoroughly enjoyable. Once I started, I was hooked!

I still think about Fitness First sometimes and just wonder why I was so stupid to hold on to that membership for so long!

Today is Friday and Soap has taken leave from his NS. You can imagine how excited I was to be able to spend a weekday(!) together...

Its now 2.03pm and we're still at home after racking our brains for the past couple of hours about where to eat and where to go. Finally, he fell asleep and here I am in front of the computer wondering why on earth is Singapore such a boring place!?

I know of couples whose date itinerary consists of and has become:
- Watching movies
- Eating
- Laze around at home

And I don't want to go to this place in my relationship. So I try hard to think of places to go, but sadly I fail. Coz we are here yet again. He sleeping whilst I'm on the internet (why do NS men sleep so much??).

To be honest, there ARE many places one can go. But only if you've got the moolah to go along with it. Living costs are on the rise, albeit slowly, but surely.

TV Education

This is an excerpt from an article I read in Reader's Digest, written by Nury Vittachi, this morning during breakfast:

...Perhaps TV does educate you. For example, you learn a useful medical fact: A person who has been shot always has time to speak a partial sentence before he dies.

"The killer was....it was...." (dies).

You also get fascinating architectural knowledge: ALL buildings have air vents big enough to crawl through. For your convenience, these are also clean, have concealed lighting, and end in grills that you can open with a simple push.

But i guess the biggest category of things we learn from TV can be classified under "Life Skills". Bad things only happen on dark and stormy nights. Emotional breakdowns cause people to wander in the heavy rain without umbrellas. And contrary to what scientists say, the crack of lighting and the accompanying flash happen simultaneously, wherever you are.

I've even acquired useful geograpical facts from sci-fi shows: Aliens speak English no matter what part of the galaxy they come from!

Making use of what we learn from TV can improve our security. Consider these three TV truths.

(1) If you are ever attacked by gang of 20 people, don't worry about being outnumbered. The baddies will hang back and take turns to approach you in ones and twos just so you can conveniently defeat them all.

(2) Nightwatchmen are nondescript guys employed to do just two things: sleep at their desks and be the first to get killed. It's in their job description.

(3) Bad guys who are completely covered up in black clothes always whip off their black masks to reveal that they are in fact, gasp, women.

TV also teaches us important information about escaping from danger. Watch and learn.

(1) If anyone is chasing you down an alley, you will find that boxes have been conveniently placed near all the walls you need to jump over. You barely even need to stretch.

(2) You can hide without being detected in the foot well of the back seat of a car, even if you are a large adult and space is only 30 centimetres wide.

(3) If you are tall and handsome with hair that flops over your forehead, you can run from any number of armed villains, and every bullet will miss you.

Be warned, however. If your namecard says "henchman" and you are part of a group of nondescript people pursuing a floppy-haired, handsome individual, a single bullet will kill you. No matter how far away from the chap you're standing. This is sad, but don't fret. TV also delivers useful info for bad guys. All cars are inflammable and have amazing shock absorbers that enable them to soar through the air and land without damage - except police cars. Those will crash and burn in any chase.

TV even teaches us about TV. Whenever anyone turns on a TV, its shows a news flash about someone they know. They then turn the box off immediately after that news item.

Police officers can learn from TV too. When your boss takes your badge and says, "You're off the case," that's when you solve it.

And oh and one more thing (and this is purely mine own observation), in a horror/sci-fi/action flick, the black guy is almost always the one to die first.

Day Eight of Home Exile

I'm only writing this post on day eight because I finally feel well enough.

I started getting high fever last Saturday night after Rissi's wedding and I took panadol, thinking that this time would be the same as anytime - I'd wake up the next day feeling back to normal. Well, the next three days was a nightmare, my fevers came and went and I started popping panadols like crazy. Stupid me didn't want to see a doctor for fear of being warded and not being able to be at the SYF for my kids on Thursday.

Finally on Tuesday night, I consulted a doctor who told me it was my inflamed tonsils causing the problem.....still didn't help. The next afternoon I asked my Dad to bring me to see my family doctor who didn't know what to make of it. He gave me medicine and asked me to come back if they weren't effective. At night I went back to my family doctor (see, I was desperate. I needed to get better by Thursday which was D-Day, SYF day!!!) and you know what he told my mom?? Send me to hospital.

Damn it!

So off I went to Changi General. I must have looked pretty bad because when my dad dropped me and my mom off at the lobby and I was slowly walking in, this lady quickly pulled her husband aside like I had SARS or something. pfft! That made me feel worse than I already was. Then Soap appeared and I was so happy!! Apparently my sister told him I was on the way to hospital. He was actually on the way to my house to surprise me and immediately went to the hospital instead.

The nurse took my temperature (39.5) and immediately hustled me to the fever room. Then the real nightmare began. I reached the hospital at 9pm and only left at 11.30pm. With a high fever, sweating, and not having bathed before going, I was a wreck. I think I looked like some crazy woman with lank, wet hair. I took an x-ray and waited again. The worst part is the waiting. I really hated the waiting. And finally, FINALLY, the doctor called me into the room again and explained that I had a lung infection (some upper mid level pneumonia). WHOA. I was like wait a minute....so serious meh? Then she said no need to be warded and then thats it. No telling me what to do like don't sleep in air con room or don't eat this or that. I think I left feeling more confused than ever. Not to mention haggard and dirty and sweaty...eew

SIGH. That's why I hate hospitals!

So here I am on Day Eight.

SYF came and went without me being there for the kids :( and I really realised how attached they were to me.

I missed the opportunity to perform at Esplanade Waterfront (a venue which I've been longing to perform at).

BUT! I spent more time at home and my mom has cooked dinner for two nights in a row! And Soap has spent more time at my house too!!

Luckily I have no more fevers. Hurray to no more sweating and changing of my entire set of clothes at 3am! and again at 5am.

OMG!!

Dining Out: The White Rabbit

My bro brought our family to dine at The White Rabbit last night. The dining venue was awesome! Dimmed lights, high ceilings, an almost cavernous space and great service from the wait staff.

One of the advantages of dining out as a family is that we can order many dishes, share and not feel like we've overeaten.

I ordered Mac and Cheese (don't ask my why I ordered such a dish when I could have ordered others, I'm still kicking myself) and their daily special - Beef Stroganoff.

Eunice ordered the Roasted Tomato Soup and their Scallop Linguine, Issac the Duck Leg Confit and King Mushroom Roll, while my parents ordered the Seabass with Olive Crust and salad.

I give thumbs up to the chef, almost everything was good (didn't like the Mushroom Roll much though), but my favourites of the night were the Scallop Linguine, the Stroganoff and the Tomato Soup. So much so that I just might go back for seconds....with Soap! :)

Pricing-wise, it wasn't as expensive as I'd imagined. Our mains were $29 and starters and sides cost less than $20 each.

The wait between each course (the waitress divided all our orders into three courses) was rather lengthy, but the wait staff plyed us with yummy fresh bread - a choice of ciabatta and onion roll (nice!) which made it quite bearable. This also gave us a chance to really talk as a family and this is something I really treasured last night. My sis said that it was the longest dinner we ever had in family history because most of the time at dinners, we gulp down our food and leave in less than 20 minutes!

For such a beautiful dining ambience, fantastic service and delicious food and not over-the-top prices, the White Rabbit has earned its place in my Little Black Book of must-visit eateries!

Review Time: Dior Show White Reveal Wipe-Off Gel

My 15ml Dior Show White Reveal Wipe-Off Gel was delivered yesterday!

This is actually the first time I'm trying out a Dior skincare product. Previously I thought it was only meant for mature women but I guess I could be wrong.

What drew me to this product was the fact that it was an exfoliator and promised a quick and easy way to exfoliate your skin.

So how do you use it?

First, cleanse your face. Then, using a cotton pad, swipe the gel onto the face and neck. The best part for me is, you don't have to wash it off - which it means it can be incorporated quickly into my daily skincare regime. *score one!*

There was no stickiness and the gel was immediately absorbed into the skin. *score two!*

After the gel, I toned my face and then applied Lancome's Genefique.

My face was a little brighter and translucent after just one use! *score three!*

But before I'm completely sold on this product and buy more of it, I'll see how the next one week of usage affects my skin!

Note: Use this daily, either in the mornings or at night if you want to try it out too!

I watched Goemon today, thinking that it would be like any other Japanese anime movie.

I was so wrong.

Throughout the movie, this one word kept appearing in my mind to describe what my eyes were seeing: beautiful.

I know this word has been overused, but surely no other turn of phrase can be used to describe the movie. To try and explain more would be almost like muddying clear waters.

I have just finished reading Kristan Higgins' Just One of the Guys and it is an amazing piece of chick lit. Hilarious in fact, judging from the number of guffaws the book wrung out of me in public places like the MRT and the bus.

Here is an excerpt. It's a bit on the long side, but read it to the end!

Stop it, Chastity. He's perfectly nice. Get your panties out of the twist. He's still talking, and I smile and nod and take a sip of water.

And then I hear something..... something familiar, though too far away to identify. A quiver of foreboding buzzes through my legs. That sound in the distance affects me...or is about to.

"Do you hear that?" I ask Ryan, tipping my head toward the window.

"No," he answers. "It's pretty loud in here."

I can't quite make out the dark shape rounding the corner, but my sense of foreboding grows.

"What is it?" Ryan asks.

"I don't...I'm not...oh, shit! Buttercup!"

"Aaaahhroooorooooroooo!"

And yes, my dog is galloping--galloping!-- her huge ears flapping, jowls rising and falling with each stride, enormous paws flopping gracelessly on the pavement as she runs--runs!--right down the middle of the street. This from a dog who has to be dragged to go outside!

And on her hindquarters, in order to prevent little drops of blood from spattering my house, is a pair of Matt's bright white Calvin Klein boxer briefs. Her tail, which is guided through the front slot of the briefs, whips back and forth. I sit frozen in horror as she careens onto the sidewalk right in front of Eno's.

"Why is that doggie wearing underwear?" asks a little girl.

"Oh, my God!" I stand abruptly, bumping the table. Ryan's water sloshes. "How did she get out? She's never gotten out before! I told the boys--"

My precious puppy, all one hundred and twenty pounds of randy, menstruating she-dog, leaps up against the window, front paws leaving great muddy smears against the glass, baying with joy at having sniffed out her mistress. "Aahroorooroororooo!" she sings, head thrown back in ecstasy.

"Dear God," Ryan says.

I stare open-mouthed. "Um...I think I'd better...that's...that's my dog"

"Dear God," Ryan says again.

I'm already weaving my way through the restaurant toward the bar. People are either laughing or frowning as Buttercup continues to serenade me. The maitre d' and two servers are pointing and talking.

"I'll take care of this!" I tell them. "She's mine. She must have tracked me here. She's part bloodhound. She's in heat."......

As I burst out of the restaurant, Buttercup decides she's not ready for capture. She leaves the window, tail whipping and trots away from me, boxers gleaming, and stops to sniff a tire.

"Buttercup...here girl!" I call, trying to sound relaxed and happy to see her.

Just then, a pickup truck comes around the corner. Matt's behind the wheel, while Trevor leans out the window, calling my dog's name. Both of them are contorted with laughter. Buttercup trots a few feet farther away. "Buttercup!" I croon. "Come on! Cookie! Salami! Want some salami? Huh, girl? Come on, Butterbaby!"

Ryan comes out of the restaurant. "What is she wearing?" he asks.

"My brother's underwear. Um, let's just try to catch her," I say.

Matt pulls up to the curb and gets out, wiping his eyes. "Sorry Chas. She escaped."

"Yes, I got that."

Trevor gets out, too, staggering, wheezing. "She found you," he manages. "She loves her mommy."

"Oh, shut up." I say, though I can't help grinning. "Don't chase her. Pretend you have a cookie or something." Buttercup stops twenty feet ahead and stares at us suspiciously from her yellow eyes. Her tail wags tentatively, but her shoulders are tensed for flight, possible for the first time in her young life. "Very slow, boys, very casual."

"Roger that," Matt says. "Come to Daddy, sweetheart." We start creeping down the sidewalk. Quite a crowd has gathered at the window of the restaurant as people watch to see the capture.

"Butterbaby! Come on, honey!" I call. She sniffs the sidewalk and flops down, apparently done for the night. "I'm so sorry about this," I say, glancing at Ryan. He's staring in consternation at my dog.

"Not at all," he murmurs insincerely.

"Who's my pretty puppy?" Matt says, pretending to hold out a treat. "Do you want a cookie?" She lets him approach. Trev, Ryan and I hold back. Just as Matt reaches out to grab Buttercup's collar, she twists away, lurches to her feet and makes a dash for freedom. "Aaaahhrooooroooorooo!" She heads toward the three of us, then dodges out into the street.

"Grab her, Chas!" Matt yells, but my dog darts past me with surprising agility, past Ryan, past Trevor, who just misses her, and continues down the street. From behind her, I can see the red splotch of blood on Matt's underwear.

"Holy crap!" I blurt, bursting into laughter. "Come on!" I start running. Buttercup is a half block ahead, and I'm laughing so hard it hurts. "Buttercup!" I call in between gasps. "Come to Mommy!"

Matt crosses the street to try to flush our dog toward me, but she's too far ahead. Behind me, Trevor is staggering unhelpfully, laughing so hard he can barely remain upright. A passing car slows down , and Buttercup shifts to Matt's side of the street, stopping to sniff a parking meter. Her ears prick with sudden alertness, and I glance up ahead. "Shit! Catch her, Matt!" I yell.

Up ahead is a tiny Yorkshire terrier on a leash, being walked by a rather plump man.

"No Buttercup!" Trevor calls. "You'll kill him, girl!"

My laughter goes silent, tears streaming down my face. "Buttercup! Salami!" I manage, clapping my hands, trying to get my dog's attention. It doesn't work.

The Yorkie owner is peering into the window of an antiques shop and doesn't seem to sense the imminent danger posed to his tiny dog.

"Mister! Hey, buddy!" Matt calls. "She's in heat! Pick up your dog! Pick him up!"

Harry's has opened its little doors in Tampines Grande! Hooray! Now we can have a little tipple nearer to our homes minus the unfriendly cab charges!!

I had that little tipple with Ah Eng tonight. Was great fun....reminiscing about our teachers, friends and happenings at SRJC and talking about our lives today. I think we laughed too loud!

my beauty products coming in on Tuesday from this online website that's absolutely bad for the pocket but so good for yourself! Well hey, I'd rather spend less on small samples than blow a huge amount on the full-sized amount when I'm not even sure if the product works. This way, I can try, see if it works then decide if I want to continue using the product. Plus small samples are great for overseas travels - you don't have to break your beauty routine just because you're overseas and have to haul loads of stuff.

I'm also looking forward to my first Victoria Secrets' package coming in 10 days (hopefully!!) I've got some gorgeous tops and lingerie! Can't wait!!!!

Oh and an absolutely gorgeous red toga dress is coming my way for CNY!! Ahhh~ the joys of online shopping. I simply can't get enough of it.

But seriously, judging from the amount of clothes I have, not worn and waiting to be sold, I've become a more discerning shopper. I mean its not like you can try on those clothes you see online.

Its not like I don't go to the shopping malls and shop. I do, but somehow, none of the clothes I see call out to be bought.

Argh..sometimes Singapore's retail scene just sucks!

Everything on the racks is made for the stick thin girls. And now there's the horror of bodycon dresses. Seriously, you can't wear those unless you've got a real proportionate and slim figure.

Sigh. I seriously need to get some CNY dresses pronto. Time's running out!

And it only seemed like yesterday was New Year's Day.

I lost my shoes

Last Wednesday, after my gamelan session at Haig Girls, I was packing up to leave when one of my girls (this cute little Pri. 2 girl) came up to me and proclaimed

"Miss Tan! I lost my shoes!"

My first thought was "who wants your smelly shoes!" Then I looked down at her feet and saw she had shoes on! I pointed at them and she quickly replied

"These are my sister's shoes! And now she has no shoes to wear home!"

Aw so sweet right? Sisterly love. So anyways, we proceeded to find her shoes but they were nowhere to be seen...until another girl piped up

"I know what must have happened! The shoes must have fell downstairs, then someone picked them up and brought them to the office!!"

I thought "yah right, how far-fetched is that? More like someone hid them" But anyways, not to hurt that little detective's feelings, we immediately dispatched someone to the office.

And.....the shoes were there.

How awesome. The innocent child could see so clearly when we adults could not.

We lost the ability to think and feel simply as we grew older.

I am ashamed.

Sunday brunches are made for these

After a hearty breakfast of minced meat noodle (for Soap) and abalone noodles for yours truly at Upper Thomson, we head to Little Part 1 Cafe a little further down on Jasmine Road and enter our second part of Sunday brunch heaven.

Apple Crumble, Hot Chocolate with toasted (they really make a difference toasted) marshmallows and my never-fail choice of Rosebud Tea. The Sunday paper and old books sitting on the shelves.

I want to do this over and over again.

I've just finished The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman in one day. This one is a keeper.

I'm starting on Dan Brown's newest novel The Lost Symbol. The title sounds promising though the book I have is hard cover and is gonna weigh a ton to lug around. I'm so not looking forward to that.

Updated 20 Jan: The Lost Symbol is such an apt title for this book. I got LOST in the book as I couldn't understand one word of Mr Dan Brown's jargon. Omg. You have to be a scientist to get/read this book! How lame is that?!

I've finally gone to get my PDL and thus far taking one big step in the direction of fulfilling New Year's resolution No. 1! Hooray!!

I wanted to get this PDL thing over and done with in the first week of the year so that when all my schools and piano kids start next week, I won't procrastinate - which trust me, I'm so good at.

Well, toodles for now. I just had to share this nugget of good news :)

Well happy new year guys!!! Without really feeling it, we're suddenly into the 3rd day of the new year!

Today is our 2nd year anniversary and we didn't do anything really grand. Just spent some quiet time together, catching up on movies, having two surprise breakfasts and cleaning up his room. Odd way of celebrating ya? I guess we're too lazy to really plan something grand and I'm just really really glad that we could spend our actual day of anniversary physically together.

So what are your new year resolutions? Or are you still thinking about it?

Mine are:

1. To start learning how to drive.

2. Finish paying up one of my loans by the end of this year.

3. Finish spring cleaning my room! (for those in the know, i'm still only 40% done, after 3 months)

4. Catch up with my friends more!

So there you have it. Keep it simple and real. And I just might have a chance to complete all 4 resolutions!

This week I've included two vastly different pieces of music. Vitalic 's One Above One is a breath of fresh air in today's crowded dance music repertoire whilst Max Richter's beautiful instrumental On The Nature of Daylight must be listened to. It is strangely sad yet inspiring.

V Magazine will be launching their Plus Size January 2010 issue. I actually thought both were the same models, only just photoshopped, but on closer scrutiny (and after reading the captions, duh!), I found out both were different models. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't their plus-sized model not really plus-sized? They should have chosen a model with more meat to represent most of the plus-sized women now! You judge for yourself.

My first and only Christmas mail of 2009....

...comes from (surprisingly) a male cousin of mine. Come to think of it, he's my financial/insurance agent as well, so it isn't that shocking after all.

Its been hours since I tore open that square piece of envelope quickly but carefully and I can still feel that pumping excitement of getting a piece of snail mail from someone.

I remember going through my mental phonebook, scrolling up and down, thinking who could this be from. There were a few suspects, though the sender was surely a pleasant surprise. And he thoughtfully penned a short paragraph to me and my family instead of just writing Merry Christmas-seal envelope-affix stamp-send and made my whole family (we were in the lift, see I couldn't wait to get home to open it!) smile.

So thanks Jeremy for the wonderful wonderful card and for making my day!

Christmas is coming...

I made a New Year's resolution to send out Christmas cards this year and guess what? I have! OMG am so excited right now!

I took some pics of the stuff and cards (yes you do get presents through snail mail too how about that!) I sent out (will post them up soon coz I just wanted to get this post out today). Hope you guys like what I got for you!

For those who didn't receive anything from me, there's still next year!!

I've been thinking of setting up another blogsite dedicated just to snail mail. I definitely do not want letter-writing/paper mail to die out!

What have you recently got in the mail other than adverts and bills? Any letters from your friends? Cards?

My grand total of letters from friends and cards is....TWO. And both were wedding invites. Sigh. There is really so much pleasure derived from reading a letter ON PAPER. It would really make my day. *not so subtle hint...LOL*

I believe in paying it forward, so before paper mail makes my day, I should make the first move and send out paper mail!

Dragonfly, JB and Enoki mushrooms

I know they don't really go together, but the title of this post pretty much sums up my life for the past two days.

Monday night, Soap was asked to sub for Velvet band's drummer at Dragonfly, so we were there from 9pm to about 5am. And when we got out of the place, not a cab was in sight. For the first time in my life, I've to wait for a cab after clubbing (sort of). Don't ask me what time I woke up today.

St James seems to have undergone a revamp. Otherwise, its been a pretty long time since I've last been. Check out Dragonfly when I first walked in.

Cool huh? Looks super classy. Or maybe its my camera.LOL.

And because I was there for so long. I pretty much started playing around with my handy camera phone.

I tried to zoom in on Soap but my camera's zoom like sucks lah. Anyways, you can just make out Soap's face without his usual smile coz he's very very stressed. LOL!

I especially love this one of Velvet's bassist, Xiang. Colours damn nice.

Out of point but I must say I really love my phone. I think the camera is damn power!!! Don't you think so??! All the photos in this post were taken by my wonderful phone!! okok back on course....the post continues....

So when we finally got up the next day, we decided to go to JB before Soap's overseas leave expires on Thursday. I bought three pairs of gorgeous heels. I can't wait to wear them but they are so high I just know I'll get calf cramp!

Here's one of them. Love the soft buttery leather feel of these gorgeous grey heels which translates to no blisters!! woot~

Soap bought 3 tops at Padini at great prices (don't we just love sales) and we got Christmas gifts for his siblings - they liked their gifts. phew~

For supper, he cooked this Enoki mushroom dish that was a complete gastronomic delight! (my fellow Enoki mushroom fans - Xin and Cindy will be so jealous)

Needless to say, I finished the whole dish! yum yum~

Hamster running

I've been going to the gym everyday (well almost everyday, except today) at 10.30am to run. For those who know me, this comes as a surprise for

a. I don't wake up early
b. I hate running

But many people have been telling me that if I want to lose weight, I have to exercise before my first meal (coz stored body fat will be the first to be burnt off) and running is the best way to lose weight. So I've decided to try this out for a few weeks and see if any thing comes out of it even if I feel like a hamster running in a cage.

And since its so early in the morning (for me, at least) and i'll be perspiring like a pig very shortly after, I don't bathe before going out. TMI! I can hear you say. But strangely, to be going out without bathing and not a smudge of makeup on the face can be quite liberating!

On another note, I am sick. And Soap is sick too. So we're BOTH stuck at his house. Sigh.

What's the best way of curing a sore throat??

Chocolate Eggs and Promises

After dinner today, my parents and I went to the nearby convenience store to buy some groceries for the house. I spied the Kinder Joy chocolate egg, picked it up and placed it with the items to be paid for at the counter.

On seeing it, my dad said to me "Hey you're not a little girl already! Don't buy lah."

But it was not the first time I bought this chocolate egg and so my dad paid for it and the rest of the items. Then he turned around and said "Next time whatever I want, you must buy for me!" To which I of course replied to the affirmative.

It may seem like an offhand remark that my dad made, it may even seem insignificant but this is a promise that I'll keep. Next time when my daddy and mummy grow older, I'll make sure they live life comfortably and most of all, happily.

Its been ages since I last updated this blog. I'm in this constant state of um...procrastination? I'm not doing the work I should, not being where I should be. I didn't even get to blog about the Sony Satio phone and now its out in the market! I just keep finding excuses to play Harvest Moon on my DS (which by the way, isn't a waste of my money). I don't even go online that much anymore! No reading emails, no facebooking, not even online shopping! *gasp*

But thankfully, one thing I've not neglected is my health (I've been going to the gym regular. Having a gym buddy helps! Thanks buddy!! *big smile) and my pals. I've been seeing alot of my friends (well not all my friends as I would ideally hope) but people like the vballers of SRJC thanks to the duo of wedding dinners provided by Elvin and Kenneth as well as Liz (my Left4Dead gamer gal pal - how many gal gamers are still playing Left4Dead?!), my gym buddy and not forgetting my darling Soap.

I better be posting those pics up soon or Cindy will have my head rolling on the floor while she does her rolling of her huge eyes. :D

This week's music bath

I thought I'd focus on an Asian theme this week, seeing as I've just started having these urges to go karaoke singing these past few weeks (all started with Soap's bro-in-law's pub opening conveniently giving me an excuse to sing and then Cindy had to go and tell me she was taking half day leave to sing. Thanks -_-).

But anyway, I digress. As usual.

So this one from Fish Leong is a never-fail in my karaoke list (coz the only songs to sing are the Chinese ones. The English mtvs are too damn corny to see, I end up getting distracted and not singing but laughing at the sheer corniness of it all). Again, I digress. Sorry.

Here's my all time favourite: 不想睡 by 梁靜茹, Fish Leong.

Next is the overplayed and over-sung 祝我生日快乐 by 温岚, Landy Wen. I really love this song with its moving melody and lyrics.

I've never sung it. -_-

Quick Update

- Playtime is over. Phew! I can now celebrate not having to wake up at 6.30am!

- My phone has gave up its ghost, forcing my hand to change to a new phone when I'm ever so reluctant to. Is this a sign of getting old? This reliance on the old comfort zone and hesitance to change to something new and foreign. I don't even want to go figure out all these blackberry/twitter/qwerty pad stuff.

- Update to the update above: I now have a Samsung Pixon phone. I can't wait to take peektures with its 8MP camera!!!

I'm waiting for Sony Ericsson's launch of their almighty Satio phone. Its said to have 12MP camera function and music player function in one handheld set! Its not in the market yet I think. When its out...I might get it. Or not. Let's see if i'm comfortable with the Pixon yet. :)

- My next big job will be forming up a World Music programme for schools under Meiyin's Laras Ethno. Very glad as I'll be getting some extra moosh for this gig. Yayness!

- Have started going back to the gym again. This time with my gym buddy Serene! We have lots of fun as usual. I like the regularity of gymming and then having lunch with her. See? Comfort zone again. I have too many of them.

- Found out that Marcus (Mr Soccer Captain) from SRJC is staying in my block, two floors above me! He's been asking me out to catch up! I don't know why our schedules always clash and we don't get to meet.

I think thats all for now. Too many updates in just a week. I still love my life though. :)

Malaysians love putting their foots in their mouth. Yesterday, Malaysian's Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said:

“We cannot continue to let other countries hijack our food. Chilli crab is Malaysian. Hainanese chicken rice is Malaysian. We have to lay claim to our food,” she told reporters after launching the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival yesterday.

What utter rubbish. Even a fool can see that Hainanese chicken rice originated from a place such as Hainan?! If not, why would the dish even be named after a place?!

Oh! Wait! Maybe in Malaysia, all their world maps only have Malaysia on it! That must be the case! How else would you explain this incredible Malaysian phenomenon of disregarding historicial and factual evidence.

And why must they do things like lay claim to this or that. Too full and nothing to do?

Malaysian, here are a few things you should do.

Go build up your economy. Be hardworking and forward thinking and maybe you'll be too busy to bully and envy Singapore. And for once, Malaysian Malays should get off their butts and finally start working and stop ostracizing Malaysian Chinese. Oh yes, and please erase that irritating procrastinating habit.

Why I say that Malaysia does it again. Well, even music falls prey to this laying claim phenomenon.

I have heard that Malaysia thinks that the Angklung originated in Malaysia and therefore its Malaysian. Excuse me? EVERYONE knows that it originated in Indonesia. Oh, sorry. Maybe everyone but poor little Malaysia. Poor thing. Didn't get your research done did you?

Oh and at a gambus performance at Singapore's Sun Festival last year, this Malaysian dude said that the gambus is Malaysian. Go do your research instead of spouting your mouth off lah! The gambus originated in Yemen under the name OUD.

Malaysia, do you know the meaning of the word "origin"?

Origin means the point at which something comes into existence or from which it derives or is derived.

If it didn't come into existence in your country, then it is not and never will be Malaysian. Get it?

After lunch, we went our separate ways to teach and then me and Serene met up at Orchard to explore ION and to shop at Far East Plaza.

ION is humongous! I do not for a second doubt that I will get lost here. In fact, we got a little lost while finding our way to Wheelock via the underpass.

Bought myself three dresses today. Its been such a long time shopping with a girl at a shopping centre! I finally understand why some girls still choose to shop at physical shops when shopping online is clearly easier. You get to try on the clothes and get to touch what kinda material the garment is made of. Also, the camaraderie one gets from shopping together is irreplaceable.

I got to check out the Best of Blogshops store at Far East. I think its a great business idea. But i felt that the shop space was too cramped and goods weren't laid out as nicely as I would have preferred.

Soap called while I was at the Blogshop store and we talked for a while. Lights out in a while he said so again, our conversation was very short. Wonder what it will do to our relationship in the long run - these hurried calls.

But! I'll get to see him for two and a half days starting tomorrow evening! Yayness!!!

Day Seven without Soap

Been doing a lot of meetups with friends lately and today wasn't any different.

Finally managed to catch up with Siannie over brekkie at Macs and we squeezed an hour of window shopping. Cannot believe the total lack of clothing options these days. Nothing we saw appealed to our eyes.

After teaching, I headed down to City Hall to meet Cindy, Ken and Meixin for dinner at Popeyes' at the Flyer.

After dinner, we made a vid for Ken's wedding. Damn fun. Haven't done this kinda of thing in a long while and Xin is still as drama as ever.

Day Six without Soap

Nothing special happened today.

I went to teach at Haig Girls - taught them Asmaradana and then headed down to Esplanade for the first rehearsal for "Nicest Egg in the World" and on reaching there, found out that rehearsal schedules had been changed without updating the musicians.

Nice.

Had dinner at Thai Express with Liz. Soap would have loved the food. Headed down to Paradiz to play Left Four Dead with Ragha. Quite cool to play without Soap as our navigator. We had to find out where to go on our own and I learnt not to be too dependent on others while playing.

Hmm...maybe thats a lesson for real life too?

Soap called and we could only talk for a while. Sigh. Story of our life.

Day Five Without Soap

Today was my free day. No teaching.

Went down to RP to help Amran with GNK. Their level of playing is really good. I'm impressed. However, I'm less than happy with their attitude. Latecoming, and even playing with their mobiles during a song.

Sigh. A student group will always be a student group. Once they get to perform on big stages, they get so big headed without even stopping to think if they deserve the stage or not.

The onus is on you as a performer (not student mind you) to perform and prepare for the performance to the best of your ability and to exhibit at least a little showmanship.

Well, that aside, today's GA latihan was really enjoyable. We played 5 different songs in an hour before calling it a day and heading off for supper to feed a certain starving mother-to-be.

Soap called while we were at supper and I got to talk to him for quite a while. I'm happy that things seem better for him in camp and glad that he's adjusting well. He says that if he passes his IPPT this Saturday morning, then for the next few weekends, he'll be able to book out on Friday nights!

Day Four without Soap

I walked into Watsons today to find a spot corrector for my face and walked out with three Olay products instead. Total damage was $109! My pocket hurts a little but I'm hopeful of the results.

What I bought:

Sundanese Degung rehearsal was not the same without Soap. I miss him so much. Didn't realise how much I enjoy having him by my side while playing my music.

Sometimes, we take things for granted until they are gone. Fortunately, in my case, its not gone forever. Just temporarily stopped while he serves the country.

For now, I'll just have to grin and bear it. But I know things will get better. I will stop missing him and soon I'll get used to his not being around me all the time.

Day Three without Soap

Today Amran, Jim, Emily and me went to visit Feri, Penny and their newest addition to their family, Annabelle. She is so cute! Sweet, adorable, exceptionally tall, pastel bundle of joy with super long fingers and toes! I absolutely love her to bits.

Amran and I then went to Esplanade to give Serene and Barbara our support at their Mbira performance at the Concourse venue.

After their performance, we went for drinks at Makan Sutra nearby. Then a band started playing at the Waterfront Amphitheatre and the music sounded so good that I left to watch their set. Halfway through the set, I realized I had listened to their stuff before - on their Myspace.
The band was none other than In Each Hand A Cutlass or IEHAC for short and they play instrumental rock/ambient music.

The music sounded really tight, the compositions coherent. However, their showmanship was sadly lacking. The band had very or almost no interaction with their audience, but I guess one can forgive that on account of their competent musicianship. A bit of trivia for you. Ex-Electrico guitarist Daniel Sassoon is a member of the band.

Day Two without Soap

Today is a Saturday. The start of the weekend and I have to teach, which makes matters worse. If only I could stay home and wallow in my misery. Fortunately for me the positive thinking side prevails and I go off to teach a grand total of four students. heehee. And there you were thinking, aww poor thing...having to teach sooo many students. Yup! Only four. But still, its the weekend!

I finish the day's work at 5pm and Sis decides to renege on our outing to IKEA. I go for a bout of window shopping at Tampines One and find this:

Day One Without Soap

I wake up at 9.30am and have lunch with Dad, bro and sis. Then its off to a whole day of teaching which helps me keep my mind off a certain someone.

Tonight I stay at home again. My parents must be wondering whats wrong with their daughter. Suddenly she's home so much. Well its not only because Soap isn't around. Its also because rehearsals have not started yet. Actually, I can't wait. Then I will have more things to do, and less time to think.

Its hard. I tear up so much when watching the second series of Perfect Cut that my eyes become swollen. He calls and we have a rushed 2 mins of conversation which certainly doesn't help my tear ducts.

The Golden Hour

I love the strings intro to this song, and then the electric guitar comes and spoils the magic. Didn't really like the chorus - seems like they can't reach the high notes, but the "la-la-la" part is really cool. :D

Couldn't make a head or toe of the video though. Kinda doesn't seem like it fits with the music. A pity.

A gem of a rock song. Frontwoman Hayley Williams is one of the best vocalist in her genre.

A new breed of Korean singers who can actually pronounce English properly are up and coming. I Don't Care is a great non-cheesy RnB song with a catchy chorus to boot.

There's nothing really great about Phuket - its just a tourist island. Maybe I had too many high hopes prior to coming here. Or maybe its because i'm not staying at the bustling Patong beach, but then again who ever would like to stay there? Karon beach, where I'm staying, is more quiet and so much more suitable for someone like me who's looking for some R&R.

I'm staying at the Sugar Palm Resort, which is tucked away behind Malai Resort which is undergoing some reno right now. Looks like a war zone when you first enter the service road leading to both resorts. But do not judge a hotel by its service road. The hotel has a welcoming entrance, albeit with no airconditioning, friendly staff, and the best part of course has to be my room! We chose a Deluxe Pool View room and they gave us one on their highest fourth floor.

The room is all decked out in white, teal and dark wood panels which lends it a very clean and pleasant atmostphere. It even has a day bed where I can do my reading, blogging and what not! This is going to be my favourite area of the room!

I love that the bathroom has a separate shower and bathtub - I never did get the whole showering in a bathtub idea.
So far, I've already soaked in the bathtub twice with my handy blend of The Body Shop's Spa Wisdom™ Plunge & Purify, Divine Calm Serenity Milk Bath Powder Bath Soak and Lush's Up the wooden Hill Emotibomb.

We're thinking of going fishing out in the sea one of these days and we saw this Movenpick place, complete with Survivor fire lamps that we'll probably try one of these days too! A trip to Patong might be cool though the transport here is sooo expensive! A one way trip to Patong (which is just 10-15mins away) will set us back 450B (about SGD 19)! One way! So to go there and back will cost us almost SGD 40. Crazy right! I might just stay in the hotel all day, reading, surfing the net, soaking in the tub, watching DVDS or Discovery Channel. :D Now that's some R&R for you!

12 shows, 3 very different productions, 4 days. I still love my life. And now I'm off to Phuket for a well-deserved break.
