Thylane Blondeau and Tavi Gevinson

What do both of these girls have in common? Other than their names starting with the letter "T"?

The answer:
//a They are both young. Thylane is 10, Tavi is 15.
//b Both are going to be/already are movers and shakers in the fashion industry.

Case in point:

Thylane has been in many print ads and has no want of modeling jobs.
Tavi is going to start a web/print project for teens - Rookie.

I'm almost a little jealous that these little people get to do their thing at such a young age. Aren't you?

Homey Weekend

I finally caught a break this week, working a full day only on Friday. Can you believe how awesome that felt?! *big grin

Anyways, as usual, when I have time, I'm always on the net, looking, learning, lusting and absorbing, in no particular order.

Here are a few of my favourite links/quotes/items I found/saw/read this week, again in no particular order. Enjoy!

paper eyelashes from paperself . My personal favourite is the deer and butterfly pair. its made of paper though, so one wonders how reusable this is.

this woman almost upstaged Kate at her fairytale wedding to her prince. I'm referring to Pippa, Kate's sister. Hotness....agreed?

sexy tights. ooh la la here

this would be a good addition to my collection of maxi dresses: edgy razorback maxi dress from static fumes

No stay home week is complete without watching a few tv series. I'm hooked on Korean drama "I am Legend" about ahjumas (Korean for aunties) finding their way through life and their personal problems, and finding happiness and fulfillment through music. Kim Jung Eun plays the lead and I'm taken with her beauty and gawkiness here. An adorable combination no?

I am also making my way through season one of Medium. Awesome stuff. Incidentally season one came out in 2005 and recently ended its run (season seven!!!) in January this year. haha! i'm a slow starter!

This week I finally finished season one of The Good Wife. Getting a little irritated at the hesitant heroine who is right now (at episode 23) caught between two guys - her husband and her boss/schoolfriend. Like make your decision already!!!

Who Is Willow Smith?

"I whip my hair back and forth, I whip my back and forth..." is the catchy refrain from Willow Smith's first single "Whip My Hair".

She's only 10 (born in 2000) and is one of the youngest solo recording artistes around.

As I was watching her music video, I couldn't help but think, she's so un-child-like. Her level of confidence in front of the camera is amazing. And also, that tiny tinge of doubt, as to whether this would be good for her, to be in the limelight so early on. But, one has to give the Smiths (Willow is the daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith) the benefit of the doubt, as they seem to be rather good parents, not like say, the father of Lindsay Lohan.

Anywho, just watch and enjoy the hair-raising antics of Little Miss Willow.

Tracy Phillips leaves Zouk

I'm surprised at her move. Coz I thought that she, having been so successful at her job at Zouk, would choose to stay and continue to climb to greater heights. Maybe, it was the end of the corporate ladder for her? Who knows...but I really wanna applaud her for staying in this job for 10 years. 10 years!!

I think its hard to move out of one's comfort zone, especially after having been in the same environment for a decade and I admire her for having the bravery and courage to do something totally different, especially during this economic downturn. According to an article by divasia, it seems she is going to be studying apparel merchandising at the Textile and Fashion Industry Training Centre at Leng Kee Road.

So who is going to be taking over her position? It will be none other the lady by Tracy's side in the pic, Ms Mari Muramoto. Will be looking out for Mari's marketing campaigns...she has much to prove...

Hmm..the textile and fashion school sounds interesting. Let me go check it out...

Back!

I googled the school and...the course fees are not too expensive!! Its like only $1.1K for the apparel merchandising course, duration totalling 60 hours (20 sessions x 3hours)

Link to the school's info here.

TAFTC website: http://taftc.org/

I'm tempted to enrol for the basic drafting and sewing course. 36 hours at $450 ($423 with SDF grant), comes up to only $11.75 an hour! Now if only I can find the time...

Therapeutic Tuesday

Today is the last day of my time-out. Six days of not working, but somehow, I don't feel relaxed. I wonder why.

So in a bid to bliss out, I am not going to a spa and I am not going out. The endless crowd makes me stressed and I zonk out like a walking zombie. I am going to stay home and look at pretty and interesting things like these.

Cisma's "Le Sens Propre" from glossy inc on http://vimeo.com">Vimeo.

Le Sens Propre is a short film written and directed by Blacklist's Cisma for Adobes Shortcut to Brilliant campaign for CS4 (Creative Suite 4). I love this!

These would be so suitable for hiding out from the sun and drawing your attention.

My favourite Singapore celebrity.

Channel 8 filmed part of their wedding dinner at the Ritz Carlton last night and I'm sure many brides-to-be had many inspirations from Michelle and Shaun's wedding. It brought back memories of Xin's wedding there. :)

What touched me was that Michelle herself made the wedding favours for the dinner – chilli padi from her family's recipe, and then bottled and decorated the favours. Also, she chose to skip the sharks fin course from the menu and had only 5 courses for the dinner, which by the way is a great idea. I think most of the time, there is way too much food and too much wastage. And why does the noodles always have to be served nearing the end of the dinner course? It is the heaviest part of the meal and should come first, right?

Another great idea was the dessert buffet. Set outside the banquet room, the buffet would be ideal for the guests to mingle and talk over sweets! My kinda scene. :) *sweet tooth.

Oh and her dresses were gorgeous! I can't wait for photos of her wearing them to be published! A short day dress? How clever! Beat the heat I say!

They look so happy together. Congratulations and may you both lead a blissful and happy life with each other!

In The Living Room.

I will going for a radio interview tomorrow! This is for the ACE Festival happening in June, and I, together with some of the other participants and directors will be interviewed for the "In The Living Room" segment by Pamelo Ho and Stanley Leong. I am so excited!! Hope I don't sound funny over the radio and don't say the wrong thing!

I did a little research on the hosts of the show and found myself at The Living Room blog, where I found out who was behind the two government (more specifically, MCYS) commercial that had me thinking hey this is so different from the staid government I know! They moved me, and most importantly, touched my heart. In this day and age, THAT is an accomplishment.

So this person, Yasmin Ahmad, a Malaysian director, was interviewed on "In The Living Room" and was specifically headhunted by our Prime Minister himself. For more on the blog article, please click here.

This is my next female idol.

This girl reminds me of Gwen Stefani. And strangely enough, this colour combination works.

Michelle Chia

I thought I'd add a local celebrity to my babespread. Michelle Chia has been in the entertainment scene for over 20 years now and I've always thought that she was simply gorgeous, no matter what she wore. Pictures say a thousand words, so here you go.

Emmanuelle Chriqui

I would watch Zohan again just to see Emmanuelle Chriqui and her gorgeous wardrobe. She makes the simplest clothing, like a white tank and jeans look so wow. On and off the set, she just looks so good! Yes, you guessed it. She's next on my babespread. Enjoy these photos!

Natalie Martinez

I watched Death Race today with Rossi, Hairie and Soap. The lead actress in the movie is Natalie Martinez. I found her so familiar but I couldn't tell where I had seen her until I googled her. And got it. Yes, Fashion House!

Fashion House was a telenovela that I saw when I was in Sydney - a drama series focusing on the going-ons of a Fashion House - the House of Gianni. It wasn't very interesting though. The acting was at best only average and the plot superficial. However, the telenovela showcases familiars like Bo Derek and Morgan Fairchild - matriachs of the scene. They still look so good!!

So back to Death Race. Gory, violent but loads of racing action that makes Fast and Furious so lame in comparison. Well and also Natalie's gorgeous on-screen so that's another plus point. Boy, this does sound like a jock's blog.

More babespreads to come. I figured since I'm always posting about pretty things, I should post some entries on pretty humans as well.
