A Garden on the Roof

is my latest addition to my perfume collection!! Its actually Un Jardin Sur Le Toit by Hermes!!

I got it from Bestbuy, an online shop that sells beauty products and cosmetics cheaper (been doing lots of online clicking and shopping because of a sprained ankle) and its a dear! The perfume (7.5ml EDT) comes with a lotion which I can use to layer the scent! So excited right now!

True to its name, the scent actually is rather similar to freshly cut grass, albeit a bit sweeter and floral.

I think I shall use this on days when I need a pick me up! The smell of freshly cut grass always makes my day feel better :D

Review: Smooth Away

I just bought this off Bestbuy. I read alot of reviews on the web saying that this product isn't really good as its like using sandpaper on your skin, takes a longer time, yadda yadda...

After using it however, I beg to differ.

The first time I used the mitt, I wet my skin first with warm water. Reason why I used it on wet skin is because hair follicles are enlarged when its wet and it makes for easier hair removal.

The process was easy, quick and no-fuss.

The second time I used the mitt, I used it straight on dry skin. Again, the process was easy, quick and no-fuss.

All it takes is a gentle circular motion on the skin. The mitt doubles as an exfoliator too and the skin is smooth after usage.

Apply some moisturizer as you would normally do and you're good to go!

Another disclaimer, the mitt seems to work better on finer hairs, so I wouldn't recommend this for men!

The package includes a large mitt for areas like your legs and underarms and a small mitt for your upper lips. It comes with a pouch as well to store both the mitts and the extra pads they have provided, which I think is quite cute! ♪

At SGD26, its quite a reasonable price for something that makes hair removal fun and easy!

I ♥ this!

How Can I Get Sick Again?!

After that horrible bout in Indo just last month? I knew I am very susceptible to flu but not this susceptible! Two flus in two months is just not acceptable!!!! This way, I can't work, no work means no money! :(

I did some research on the internet on how to boost the body's immunity system and found these very helpful websites.

Red Peony Health

Blood Index

Eating Healthy Foods

In the course of my research I stumbled upon a page that said that dairy is good for women who want to lose weight:

Yogurt: dairy for women has been shown to increase your ability to lose weight, but yogurt in particular is a good choice. It increases immune function and will add to your protein intake for the day.

Did you also know that yoghurt can do wonders if added into our skin-care routine?

From beautifulskinblog:

Moistening and cleansing mask for body. You need 500 grams of natural yoghurt. Smear your body with yoghurt beginning from neck to ankles. In 15-20 minutes add some yoghurt on the callous parts of skin, especially on the elbows and lap. After this procedure take a warm shower and then rinse the body with cool water. You’ll see the body skin is unusually tender and silky.

There are loads more yoghurt skin/body care recipes on this page from Nature's Super Foods. They are quite easy to make, all you need is a food-processor, and the ingredients needed are quite easy to find! If you'd like more recipes, there are an abundance of recipes on the internet.

As for me, I'm thinking of making the Nice and Zesty Yoghurt skin care recipe this weekend! Nothing beats using fresh products on the face.

What about you? Which recipe will you use?

The Luxe Issue

the Lash Blast Luxe Shimmery Volumising Mascara by Cover Girl.

Here's a vid by MsDebraMaye on her review of the mascara. As you can see, it really works. The thing that sold me though, was the shimmers that come with this mascara. Very eye-popping!

On the subject of makeup, I also watched this summer tutorial on her youtube channel.
What I love about this look is that she uses the unconventional colour of yellow and pulls it off very well. The effect is very light, fun and flirty. I'll definitely be trying this look when I have the time coz it takes her almost 10 mins to create this look and well, i'm the 5-minutes-out-the-door kinda girl. Hehe.

I just got home from lunch and I popped into Guardian and look what I found!

I know. Super cool! The larger box contains 14 ultrathin 32cm overnight pads ($6.40) and the tin holds 5 ultrathin 23cm pads (at $1.95, its a steal!)

For the budget-conscious gals:
Guardian also has this promotion that if you spend more than $30 in a single receipt, you get 20% off your whole bill! Do your math, and you'll find that the prices after discount are really great value for money!

The Face Shop

This has been long overdue! But I've been so so so busy!!! My apologies! Here goes:

My stash from my latest shopping jaunt with Cindy yielded me:

- 4 packs of Raspberry Roots Collagen Eye Patch
- *new arrival alert* The Skin Extra BB Cream (which contains SPF20!)
- two eyeshadows in brilliant black (BK903) and the other in a goldenish tinge (WH005)
- Raspberry Roots Sleeping Mask

The very nice SA then proceeded to give us samples, which of course completed our whole shopping experience at The Face Shop:

- 2 samples of Flebeaute Collagenic Collagen 70 Cream (improves skin firmness and reduces wrinkles)
- a sample of their Quick and Clean Oil-Free BB Cream
- 2 samples of Su Hyang Snow Maximing Gel Cream
- a sample of Su Hyang Snow Boosting Toner
- a sample of Su Hyang Snow Balancing Moisturizer

I immediately used the Raspberry Eye Patch and the Sleeping Mask from the same line. Haha, I'm a little OCD like that, I love matching the products I use, when I can, as often as I can!

Anyway, I HAVE to rave about the Eye Patch. Each pack comes with not one, but two treatments (you are supposed to have both treatments in a week) How thoughtful of them to give us more bang for our buck! At $9.90 per pack, I originally thought it was a little steep for an eye mask, but I stand corrected. No wonder its their best-seller!

Just after the one usage, the skin under my eyes felt firmer and smoother! You bet your petunia I'll be using this mask for the next several weeks to come! Looking forward to more results! I have high hopes for it.

The Sleeping Mask on the other hand didn't give any obvious results after the first night of usage, unlike the brand's other sleeping pack from the Aqua Drop line, which I have already done a mini review, here.

My last review for this post will be none other than The Face Shop's recent BB cream arrival from The Skin line.

Containing SPF 20, this BB cream is said to soothe irritated skin, moisturize, correct one's complexion with natural coverage and nourish our skin.

Day 1: I tried it on its own on my undereye area. Texture is very thick, unlike my regular Legere Water Drop Shiny Pearl BB cream. I quickly learn that less is more, as the coverage of this BB cream is quite heavy. After I finish blending, there is a white cast to the area....patiently wait for half an hour before the cream corrects itself to my skin tone. However, after half an hour, one can still tell I've put something under my eyes. I'm running late, so I just leave the house. Lasts throughout the day, even through perspiration and the heat.

Day 2: I mix the Face Shop's BB cream with my Legere BB, and the result is better. Less of the heavy whitish cast and mixture of the creams is easier to blend in. I don't have to wait for half an hour before I can leave the house. 10 mins is all it takes. Lasts throughout the day and melts a little at about 9pm after my rehearsal.

Verdict: I wouldn't use the Face Shop's BB cream on its own, unless I'm going for a gig. However, the mixture of both the Face Shop and Legere creams ensures I get rather good coverage with all of the accompanying benefits of the Face Shop BB cream and the light-reflecting shimmer of Legere's Water Drop BB cream.

We walk with a spring in our step.

Just bought this Foot Spa Massager thingamajig from Watsons. We wanted to buy it at IMM but the Watsons there was closing. It ended up as a blessing in disguis...because there was a discount on it later on!!! So we ended up buying it at $26.90 instead of its original price at $39.90. What a steal right?

So this Foot Massager thing is really great. We boiled some water, mixed it with some fresh water from the tap and then I added a little of Body Shop's Plunge & Purify Bath Soak and the room started smelling heavenly!

After soaking in the bubbling water for about 10 mins, our feet felt incredibly soft and smooth. Even Soap's feet (men's feet are supposedly more calloused than women's)! Amazing huh?

Another thing about this great bath soak. If you're a great fan of Spa Wisdom's Sea Salt Scrub like me, try the salt scrub mix with the bath soak as a body scrub! Or you can use this mixture of Salt Scrub and Bath Soak as an impromptu body mask! I love using it in the sauna!

Buy of the week

I must say my best buy this week has to be the Oxymask. A best-seller in Taiwan, the product was featured on a Taiwanese womens' programme (女人我最大).

With some time to spare before I met pianist Shane Thio, I walked into SaSa at Lot One. As usual, my weakness for shopping and beautifully wrapped packages had me handing over some cash to the cashier. In this instance, I bought the OxyMask. I wasn't too keen to spend $98.80 on a 50ml bottle. I was going like "Are you crazy?! Its almost a $100!!!" But then I was thinking what if it really was a fabulous product???

So I bought 3 5ml bottles for $29.90.

I was quite sad at first! I'd already promised myself to save money, you know with the recession and all, but alas, my hands and my head didn't seem to be connected then, and my hands took out my wallet, opened it and took out the money! In my heart I was still thinking to buy or not to buy!

BUT!

I just used the mask and I don't regret the purchase anymore! Why such an about face, you might ask?

Because...

IT IS TOTALLY BRILLIANTLY FANTASTICALLY GLORIOUS!!!! OMG!!!!!!

It immediately brightened my skin and smoothened it! Like IMMEDIATELY can!!!!???

The bubbling on the skin's surface takes some getting used to but after a while, it is kinda soothing.

It is recommended to immediately use any skin product beneficial to the skin (e.g. moisturizer or serum) after rinsing off the mask, as absorption is said to be maximized after application of the mask! I used my promegranate serum from Borba. And I can't stop touching my face!!!

***the next morning when I woke up, my face was as smooth as a baby's ass. I'm not kidding. Only my nose was a tad oily. Miracle!!

Today is the day...

Today is the day I went to JB again. I'm telling you, its fast becoming the place to go for me, mainly because things there are cheaper, and I only need less than an hour to cross the border.

Well, today took slightly longer because I went there during peak hour. Its very crazy at the bus interchange. Queues snake anywhere, and you're not sure if you are queuing in the right lane. And some people purposely don't ask, and sneakily form another lane next to yours so that when the bus comes, suddenly there are three lines converging towards the bus. Its damn irritating!
You know me, I won't give way, until Soap pulled me away to avoid being crushed by those people. Whats the rush honestly? Its not like the wait for the next bus is another hour!!! I shall make a point never to go during peak hour again.

Watched Underworld 3 today at City Square. The movie's fast-moving with alot of action, but I strongly suggest you watch the first two movies first to avoid getting a little confused. I kept asking Soap questions like "who's Sonja?", "who's Lucian?", "were they in the first movie?" - okay okay, I know. very irritating. But i can't help it. My memory short circuits when it comes to remembering movies. LOL.

I went shopping too!

Bought a pair of bling gunmetal silvery flats at only 39.90RM (SGD16.90), new lingerie at Minoshe and of course, I couldn't resist going to Etude House again, where I FINALLY bought the Tear Drop Lash I've been trying so hard to find. I also got the Magic Crystal Mousse Peel (the sales girl said this is better for application than the pack). Can't wait to try it!!!

And of course, I got to eat the very delicious chicken curry complete with warm bread from the oven! Yummy!

I can't wait for my next trip to City Square. Bride Wars here i come!!!!

Etude House!!!

I went to City Square at Johor Bahru yesterday and the new Etude House store was open!!! I stepped in and spent half an hour trying to find the Tear Drop Lash (because I stupidly forgot its name!). I tried and tried to explain to the salesgirl first in Chinese, then in English but she didn't know what that was.

But! I didn't go home empty handed! I bought a compact BB cream powder (smells nice!!)
as well as something called MILK SCREW. Sounds a little wrong! heh. Its actually a lipbalm/gloss that gives a subtle hint of colour to the lips. I tried it on at the Cozycot Flea today. I couldn't really see what colour it gave my lips, but my lips felt sufficiently moisturized. It didn't last long though. It comes off everytime you drink some water.

And I still want this!

And this!

A new product from the Etude House's Magic Crystal range - Magic Crystal Pack Peel
So I guess another trip to JB is in order!

Oh and please indulge me as I wax lyrical about the wonders of the delicious, tasty chicken curry at this little Taiwan (Hongkong?) food stall in City Square. The curry is not too spicy and has just the right amount of coconut. You must be thinking I'm crazy to travel all the way to JB to eat chicken curry whenn I can get it in Singapore. But get this! The curry comes with toasted french loaf slices. TOASTED! As in crispy crust and warm, light and fluffy dough! It is simply WONDERFULLY SCRUMPTIOUS with the curry.

And the best best best thing has to be its price! A set meal consisting of chicken curry, 3 slices of toasted french loaf and a choice of hot/cold coffee or tea costs only RM7!! Which comes up to less than SGD3! Whats more, you can top up the curry free of charge! And should you want another slice of that incredible french loaf, it will only set you back by RM0.50 per slice. GO TRY IT!

You know you want to!

Wow. They should pay me to advertise for them.

BB Cream!!

My new beauty must-have (other than eyelash extensions) is....*drum roll*....BB cream!!! I just bought a tube of BB cream from Korean brand Etude House when I was in Bangkok. This is the Etude House's Korean's site which IMO is cuter!!

I also bought the Aqua Ice Sherbet spray for the face. It is supposed to tone up your cheeks and jawline. Haven't really used it so I'll save that review for later. BB cream is more important!!!

For those who don't know what BB cream is - its a cream that is a foundation, concealer, sunblock and moisturizer rolled into one creamy latte dollop of BB cream! Yes! Its magical, its a miracle!!! The best thing is, the cream will follow your skin tone, so no matter whether you're fair, or tanned, the cream will always suit your skin colour! No more buying new face powders whenever I spent too much time in the sun or whenever my tan faded. Trust me, it is damn irritating!

So anyway, back to BB cream. They don't have it in Singapore!!!! Grrr...the nearest is in KL or in JB at some Aeon Bukit Indah place. I don't know where the hell it is!! So near yet so far. I'm damn sad. :(......

because, there's another item I would really really love to purchase. And that is...Etude House's Tear Drop Lash!! Apparently, every touch of tear drop on eyelash tips creates a transparent gel layer on your eyelashes that sparkles everytime you blink!

How to use: Apply tear drop to eyelash tips after mascara has completely dried. Turn dial 5-10 times to dispense contents. So nice!!!

I so want it!!! Now, I only just have to figure out how to get to that Bukit Indah store in JB or go to KL!!

*NEWSFLASH* I just came back from JB and guess what!!!!!!!!!! There's an Etude House store opening at City Square! When I saw that familiar logo pasted on the doors of the still-renovating store, I went into exhilirated overdrive. Reverently touching the boarded doors of the shop, I almost kissed it! Soap was laughing at me all the while and I got quite a few wierd looks. But I don't care!!
Prayers answered!!! I do NOT have to go to KL after all! Thank you thank you thank you!

Get on the Chungking Express

No, its not the movie starring Tony Leung Chiu Wai, but rather a Brit trip-hop outfit calling themselves Chungking. I'm totally in love with their sound, their vocal harmonies and well, they're really easy listening :)

This song is called "Following". I first heard it on the Nip/Tuck soundtrack. Very nice.
This youtube video however is a montage of shots from Grey's Anatomy.

Another favourite song of mine from Chungking is "Come with Me". I really love the vocals on this one, especially the backups.

Okay I know this is so out of point but I MUST share this with you! I recently bought the Ice Flower Aqua Water Drop Pack from The Face Shop. Its a face mask that you can put on just before you go to sleep. It rehydrates your skin throughout the night and you can wash it off the next morning.

So I tried it the very day I bought it and guess what? The next morning after I washed it off with my regular cleanser, my skin felt plumped! I'm not exaggerating. Its like wow!! And it only costs $25.90!! And don't you just love the term Ice Flower?! Okay okay, i'm getting too hyped up over this mask, but if you're looking for a rehydration mask, this does it!

The Yellow Ribbon Concert is officially over. I won't miss the constant waiting for the prison gates to open, for the prison officers to come get me etc. But I will definitely miss my girls. I couldn't divulge any personal information to them but I told them to google Gamelan Asmaradana when they get out, and try and get my contact. I really wish you girls all the best!
